A skilled control of the shape and a mastery of technique, when it comes to the twists and turns of MITIGATED METAMORPHOSIS BIS, allowed the artist to play once again with reflected light bouncing on the edges of a ribboned shape which folds graciously into itself.  Creating a perpetually dynamic shape, the organic profile of a dancing flame inevitably interacts with ambient light, constantly altering its contours as it moves. By incorporating its immediate surroundings into its volume, the piece emerges weightless out of a transparent base, maintaining an unfathomable equilibrium thanks to ideal proportions.

Defying the laws of gravity, thanks to a careful radial balance the piece turns into a homogenous, inseparable whole. Patinaed matt black, leaving only a thin golden edge to silhouette the piece, the tensile strength of the bronze is mysteriously intensified, turning this tactile, freestanding  piece into a figure eight, which is, in numerology, no other than the artist’s life path. In this altered version of MITIGATED METAMORPHOSIS, anchored off-centre on a translucent block, the void within, as present as the form, becomes evanescent in space, an inescapable ribbon of smoke coming together to evoke its own infinity.

This fourth piece in the TRANSCENDENT FORCE series speaks of irrepressible freedom in its upward movement whilst perpetually renewed hope hems its winding form.
