For the first piece of his new series entitled ARCHITECTONIC ASCENT, the artist displays a structure both protective and evolutive, where multiple chambers are separated by septa, thin partitions which spiral from a central shaft to define an apposition of voids and solids. The shapes of ELLIPSE EMERGENT produce a cantilevered construction which effectively distributes weight along the biomorphic design, creating an association of light and shadow where none is expected.  By evoking the tip of a bow which anchors the stability and overall structural integrity of the sculpture’s overall presence, the curvilinear forms of the carved stone create an organic dynamism reminiscent of modern architecture.  Evolving shapes, thanks to spaces which seemingly close when others open, visually engage the viewer in a continuous and fluid tour de force. In this essentially biomorphic design, the unadorned starkness of a foreboding wall on the one side contrasts with suspended bridges on the other, while a bird’s eye view highlights evanescent galleries. ELLIPSE EMERGENT is the first instalment of a spiritual process, crucial in the artist’s personal evolution.
